Bicycle helmets in Australia have been mandatory since around 1990, so its going to be hard to change a law that's existed for 2 decades. However with the rising interest in bicycle commuting, and increasing obesity many people are indeed questioning the validity of mandatory helmets. The people at www.helmetfreedom.org are definitely questioning it, and have released this video / commercial.
